Wine from Chile: Carmenere

Carmenere is a red wine originally from Bordeaux, France, but it found its true home in Chile. It’s a late-ripening grape that produces deeply colored wines with medium body, smooth tannins, and aromas of black fruits, spices, and roasted red pepper. Its name comes from the French word carmin, referring to the crimson hue of its leaves in autumn.
